AssetWise Implementation Guide

To Install AssetWise Information Integrity Server

  1. Browse to this folder in Windows Explorer: ...\Server Installation\AssetWise Information Integrity Server
  2. Double-click this MSI file: AssetWise Information Integrity Server.msi
  3. When the Setup Wizard opens, click Next.
  4. When the License Agreement page opens, read and accept the agreement, then click Next.

    The Custom Setup page opens, showing you the features that can be installed, and the location to which the product will be installed.

  5. Select the features you want to install by clicking the feature's icon and selecting the appropriate option from the menu. Items with an X to the left of them will not be installed.

    All AssetWise Information Integrity Server features are enabled by default.

    • Application Server
      • Database Files
        • Microsoft SQL Server – Installs the database scripts to install and upgrade an AssetWise database running in SQL Server
        • Oracle - Installs the database scripts to install and upgrade an AssetWise database running in Oracle
    • Media Management Services

      These services are license-dependent and should only be installed if the correct license features exist.

      • FTR Service – Installs the FTR Service, which is used to index text from AssetWise documents into a full text retrieval (FTR) database.
      • Mail Distribution Service – Installs the Mail Distribution Service, which is used to connect with an email server in order to distribute emails initiated from AssetWise.
      • Print Service – Installs the Print Service, which is used for AssetWise server printing.
      • Publisher Service – Installs the Publishing Service, which is used to export documents and folders into a location to be published.
      • Record Capture Service – Installs the Snapshot Capture Service, which is used to create snapshot documents. (A snapshot is a document that contains information about an object, captured at a specific point in the object's lifecycle.)
      • Rendition Services – Installs the Rendition Service, which is used to create renditions of files in AssetWise. (A rendition is a representation of a file published to another format.)
      • Storage Service – Installs the Storage Service, which is used to manage AssetWise storage devices and repositories.
      • Document Creation Service – Installs the AssetWise Document Creation Service.
      • Work Queue Service – Installs support for processing custom jobs
      • Bulk Transaction Support – Installs support for import and export transactions.
      • Interoperability Services – Installs support to allow for output of AssetWise (eB) XML data.
    • eB System Management Console (Standalone)

      AssetWise System Management Console automatically gets installed when the Application Server feature is installed, so this option does not need to be turned on in most cases. This Standalone option, which is turned off by default, only needs to be turned on if you are using the AssetWise Information Integrity Server installer to install AssetWise System Management Console by itself on another computer.

  6. Accept the default installation location or click Browse to change it.

  7. When finished on the Custom Setup page, click Next.
  8. On the Services Identity page, enter the user name (domain\user.name) and password of the user under which the services on this computer will run, and then click Next.
    Note: It is essential that the user you specify has Log on as a service rights on this computer, and that you enter the user name and password correctly, otherwise the installation will fail .
  9. When the Ready to Install page opens, click Install.
  10. When installation is complete, click Finish.
